Nobody can deny the success of Kirby and Tails, two pioneers of their time. This is the story of their downfall, feud, and rise again.

September 7, 1999
After Sonic Adventure is criticised by die hard Sega fans for poor transition from excellent 2D into sub par 3D, Tails storms out in a rage and goes out on the town, fuelled by Tia Maria's and chilli cheese dogs. Somewhere between Green Hill and Mystic Ruins, Tails sees a Nintendo fanboy slowly crossing the road. Remembering how Nintendo crushed his best friend Sonic and sent him into drug usage and eventual permanent rehab, Tails lets his anger get the better of him and runs him down. Out of nowhere, the Fanboy pulls a Blue Shell from his coat and blows a huge hole in the side of Tail's SUV. Tails is left unconscious as his car burns around him.
Tails is admitted to the Game Over Clinic in California, North America. Nobody got the chance to tell Tails his game was in fact a huge success, keeping the doomed Dreamcast alive a lot longer than it should have been.

September 10 1999
Tail's friends watch as he falls into a deep coma.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the world in Tokyo, Japan, Kirby gets a phone call while vacationing. It seems one of his biggest fans and closest friend was hit by a car. A car belonging to a certain Tails Miles Prower. Kirby gets on the next plane to California. Most onlookers laughed at his puffed up face, but anybody who knew Kirby knew this face meant death.

October 1, 1999 2AM
Kirby breaks into Game Over Clinic. He badly beats Tails, first ingesting him and then hitting him with some sort of sword. Witnesses outside the clinic say all they saw was a small pink dot with two fiery orange tails.
When asked for comment, Sonic simply said "Sonic's the name, speed's my game!"
After the success of Mario 64, Sonic became ripped up with jealousy and promptly OD'd on "Gold Rings" the new drug sensation. Sonic was left mentally scarred, his only words being the corny catchphrases of years gone by.

October 20 2001
Tails wakes from his coma to find a world changed. Kirby has gone into hiding, not having a decent single player experience in years. The only thing people know him for nowadays is Smash Bros.
He cannot believe that Sega have become a third party, going into a minor bout of depression. Friends of Tails said at the time he just sat in his chair all day long, watching Sonic Underground and shredding copies of Nintendo Power.
Sonic simply replied "no comment". He was enjoying the income from the Gamecube remake of Sonic Adventure 2 too much.

May 24 2002
Kirby expects bountiful salary raises from the new soon to be Smash Bros. He was soon disappointed. He emailed Shigeru Miyamato asking why this was, and all he could make up from the babble of text he got back was something about "Roy" and "Fire Emblem" and "effing minted".
